Nearly 3 in 5 voters say President Biden helped his son Hunter Biden with his foreign business dealings, a new poll shows.
The poll by Harvard’s Center for American Political Studies, Harris X and The Harris Poll shows that 58% of respondents say Mr. Biden helped and participated in his son’s business dealings, while 42% say he did not.
About 84% of Republicans surveyed say the president was involved, while 36% of Democrats and 55% of those who identify as independent/other say he was involved.
In addition, 64% of Democrats say Mr. Biden did not participate in the business, while 16% of GOP respondents and 45% of independents agree.
The majority of those surveyed, 71%, say it would be an impeachable offense if Mr. Biden was working with his son and brother, James Biden, to help bring in millions of dollars from China, Russia and Ukraine while he was vice president, while 29% said it wouldn’t be.
And 89% of GOP respondents say such action would be impeachable, while 74% of independents and 52% of Democrats agree. Forty-eight percent of Democrats, 11% of Republicans and 26% of independents say such action wouldn’t be impeachable.
A congressional investigation to see if the president has any connection to the foreign business dealings done by Hunter and James Biden has been conducted since late last year. Hundreds of documents and numerous people have been brought in for hearings by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.
Democrats argue that Republicans have yet to find any concrete evidence that Mr. Biden was involved.
The survey was conducted online from April 24-25 among 1,961 registered voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.
