Elon Musk’s X announced an app for smart TVs this week, expanding the social media site into the streaming world.

X on Tuesday showed off features familiar to users of other video apps like YouTube, including algorithmically generated recommendations, trending videos and cross-platform compatibility with smartphones.

X CEO Linda Yaccarino took the lead in promoting the upcoming app in a post.

“From the small screen to the big screen, X is changing everything. Soon we’ll bring real-time, engaging content to your smart TVs with the X TV App,” she wrote. “This will be your go-to companion for a high-quality, immersive entertainment experience on a larger screen.”

Ms. Yaccarino’s post also previewed the app’s interface, featuring thumbnails for various videos, including Tucker Carlson’s interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin and a SpaceX rocket launch.

The X TV app is a part of the platform’s journey to dominate the online video market. Mr. Musk has said video content is a key priority for X and has accumulated various big-name content creators to post their content directly to X.

On top of landing an exclusive deal with Mr. Carlson, Mr. Musk also secured space for Tulsi Gabbard and Don Lemon. Mr. Musk canceled Mr. Lemon’s show after a contentious first interview.
